New published titles

This period in German speaking countries can be divided into the time before the founding of the German Empire (“Germany”) on January 18, 1871, in the Palace of Versailles.

And then as the Second Reich until Hitler’s “seizure of power” in the year 1933, after which it is also known as the Third Reich (1933-1945) in Germany.

We have already briefly described this complicated national unification of the German states (with and without Austria/Hungary) on our website “Germany, Politics 19th & Early 20th Century.” With the lost battle of the Dual Monarchy – together with the South German states – on July 3, 1866, at Koenigsgratz (Northern Bohemia, now the Czech Republic), Prussian ruling began in “Germany”.
